Marion- OPAL MAE (RIDGEWAY) WANDS-DAVIS, age 88, of Marion, passed away at noon on Wednesday June 8, 2005 at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion with her family at her bedside.
Born on September 3, 1916 in Herrin to Edd and Ethel (Arnold) Ridgway, Opal would have been 89. She married Thomas Wands and after his death in 1975 she later married Harold Davis. Harold preceded her in death in 1990.
Opal grew up working in the family greenhouses and orchards with her parents. Later, she worked 30 years as a butcher and retired from Borens IGA stores. She spent her time gardening, cooking, quilting and working on several crafts that she enjoyed.

John (friend Marlene) Ridgway
Several nieces and nephews

Parents, both husbands, and sister- Lola Babe McKenzie
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday June 13, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday June 12, 2005 from 6-9pm.
