Orval Barnes

Herrin - Orval "Cotton" Barnes, 84, died at 7:25 a. m. on Sunday, May l3, 2001 at the Marion VA Medical Center in Marion, IL. Mr. Barnes was born March l6, l9l7 in Princeton, KY to Frank William and Zona (Hopper) Barnes. He married Rosalie Marie Pedigo on June 20, l936 in Herrin. She survivies. He was in the Sales Department of Diagraph Bradley for 28 years. He attened the Hurricane Memorial Baptist Church in Herrin and was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Masonic Lodge in Herrin. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Survivors include: Wife - Rosalie Barnes - Herrin, IL Son and daughter in law - Jerry Lynn and Ophelia Barnes - Herrin, IL Grandchildren - Pam Perry - Zeigler, IL Wesley Barnes - Fountain Inn, S. C. Kevin Barnes - Zeigler, IL Dena Barnes - North Carolina Lance Barnes - Benton, IL Jason Barnes - North Carolina 2 great grandchildren - Ronnie Bryant - Christopher, IL Laura Barnes - Zeigler, IL He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May l7, 2001 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville with full military rites by the Herrin American Legion and VFW Posts. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assocaition and will be accepted at the funeral home.
