Marion- Pansy Louise Tyler, 72 years, 2 months, 7 days of Marion, formerly of Chicago, passed away at 5:40 PM, Friday, September 14, 2007 at home. Pansy was born on September 7, 1935 in Pittsburg, IL to Harold & Betty Estelle (Mifflin) Tyler. She was a member of the Pittsburg First Baptist Church and accepted the Lord at a young age. She taught Vacation Bible School and worked with children all her life as a caregiver. Pansy was a companion, caregiver, teacher and much loved aunt to her beloved niece, Deborah Copeland for forty one years. Pansy graduated from Marion High School in 1956 and moved to Chicago that summer. She trained to be a nurses aid and worked at Edgewater Hospital for three years before moving on to Tri-Play (later Mattel). Her toy assembly was featured on the Jack Parr TV Show bringing great acclaim to the people on her line. She then worked for Shure Brothers in Evanston for twenty five years and during that time many celebrities visited the factory. She met and shook the hands of celebrities including John Travolta and Donny Osmond (the highlight of her career). She always enjoyed country music. At one concert she met, shook hands with and received an autographed photo from Merle Haggard. She was well liked wherever she went and leaves behind many loving family members and friends. She will be sadly missed by all of us. Survivors include- Sister- Roma Tyler of Marion Sister & brother in law- Karen & John Copeland of Marion Niece- Debbie Copeland of Marion Uncle- Walter Mifflin of Boise, ID Aunt- Mary Springhart of Russellville, AL Aunt- Veronica Mifflin of Godfrey, IL Many cousins She was preceded in death by her parents. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Oddfellows Cemetery in Marion. Rev. Kenneth Johnson will officiate. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is handling memorial arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Franklin Williamson Human Services and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market St./ Marion, IL 62959.
