Patricia Commean

Herrin- Patricia Commean, 84, of Wheeling, formerly of Herrin and Energy, died at 5:40 PM, Monday, April 12, 2004 at Lexington of Wheeling with her family at her side. Pat was born on March 7, 1920 in London, England to Maurice & Doretta (Nichily) Afia. She was an English war bride and met her husband Levi E. Commean in England during WWII. They were married on July 15, 1945 in Hendon, England. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1957. Mrs. Commean formerly worked as a seamstress at Smoller Bros in Herrin, but was first and foremost a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved animals. Patricia was an active member of both Herrin First and Energy Baptist Churches. SURVIVORS: Daughter & son in law- Emily Finegan & James Walenga- Palatine, IL Son- Victor Commean- Peoria Grandson- Victor Edward Commean- Mt. Prospect Granddaughter- Kelly Commean- Freeport Sister- Pearl Beebe- London, England She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister; Clara Simons, and two brothers; Victor & Albert Afia. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. The family will give the eulogy. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Heartland Hospice and will be accepted at both the funeral home and cemetery.
