Patrick R. Campbell

Patrick R. Campbell, age 81, of Marion, passed away at 6:55pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home in Marion. Patrick was born in New Burnside on July 31, 1936, the son of Edward M. and Francis (Reed) Campbell. He married Claire E. Hughes on August 27, 1957. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2012. He married Patricia K. Walters on July 26, 2014. She survives in Creal Springs. Mr. Campbell was retired from the IBEW Local #702.  He was a United States Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean War.  Patrick was a member of the Marion American Legion, the Marion Eagles, and the Marion VFW Post #1301, where he proudly served as a Past Commander. Survivors include his wife- Patricia K. Walters of Creal Springs Son- Robert Stokes of CA Daughter- Julie and Ricki Lockler of Oswego, NY Grandson- Patrick R. Campbell of CA Brother- Michael Edwards of Gilbert, AZ Brother- Bobby Edwards of Almagordo, NM He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife- Claire, son- George Stokes, and daughter- Denise Stokes. Memorial services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marion with Pastor Mark Surburg officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery with military rites presented by the Marion VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and Navy Flag Detail Unit.   A time of visitation will be held from  9 am  until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.  Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
