Patsy J. Dirks

Energy- PATSY J. DIRKS, age 75, of Energy, passed away at 6:10am on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Century Assisted Living in Carbondale. Patsy was born in Flora, IL the daughter of Walter L. and Mabel Lucille (Golden) Terry. She married Richard Dirks in Effingham on September 8, 1956. He survives. Mrs. Dirks was baptized at the First Christian Church in Effingham. She loved taking care of children, especially her grandchildren. Patsy was a homemaker but also worked as the playground supervisor at South Side School in Herrin. She enjoyed playing pinochle and bridge and staying active in tennis and bowling. She was a collector of pewter and loved going out with her friends. Survivors include her husband- Richard Dirks of Energy Son- Terry Dirks of Herrin Daughter- Cindy and Larry Rabacchi of Buckner Son- Steven Dirks of Herrin Daughter- Lisa Dirks of Herrin Son- Alan and Tonya Dirks of Paducah, KY Son- Tommy and Heather Dirks of Apotca, FL Thirteen Grandchildren Four Great Grandchildren and one on the way Brother- Roger Terry of Olney Several nieces and nephews Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister- Karen Sue Terry. Memorial services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Sunday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to TIP Hospice or teh Alzheimers Association.
