Paul E. Gothard Herrin-Paul E. Gothard, 77, died 6:11 P.M., Friday, May 9, 2003 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Mr. Gothard was born July 19,1925 in Clifford, Illinois. He was the son of Sterling E. & Lucille (Farmer) Gothard. He married Wilma L. (Cannon) Gothard on September 14, 1946 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She survives. Survivors Include: Daughter & son in law: Brenda & Dan Finke of Herrin Grandson: Ryan Finke of Herrin Sister & Brother-in-law: Rosemary & Jim Redden of Marion Niece: Jamie Powell of Marion Nephew: Don Redden of Marion Nephew: Terry Redden of Marion Mr. Gothard was a graduate of Herrin High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II in the South Pacific theater. He worked at Ziegler #4 Mine in Johnston City until it closed. He retired from Brushy Creek Mine in Harrisburg in 1990. He was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in Herrin and a member of the Herrin Masonic Lodge for almost 50 years. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, May 12, 2003 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
