Herrin- Pearl Grimes, 93, of Herrin, passed away at 5:55 AM, Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Friendship Care Center in Herrin. Pearl was born on July 11, 1911 in Kentucky to Grant & Ada (Phelps) Winchester. She married Clarence Ardell Grimes on September 6, 1936 in Murphysboro. He survives of Herrin. Mrs. Grimes was a homemaker and a member of the Herrin First United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile. SURVIVORS: Husband- Ardell Grimes- Herrin Daughter & son in law- Shirley & Charles Harper- Johnston City (owners of Harper Feed Mill in Herrin) Five Grandchildren: Lisa & Jeff DeRight- Mt. Pulaski, IL Brent Grimes- St. Louis, MO Sherry & Todd Smedshammer- Herrin Cindy & Joseph Kovasity- Grand Blanc, MI Wendy Sue Harper- Johnston City Great Grandchildren- Haley & Logan DeRight- Mt. Pulaski, IL Daughter in law- Teresa Rogers- Rivertown She was preceded in death by her parents, son; Gary Grimes and five sisters. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, January 10, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Herrin First United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Bonnie Camp and will be accepted at the funeral home.
