Peggy Ridgeway

Freeman Spur- Peggy Ridgeway, 75, of Freeman Spur, passed away at 8:16 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2008 at her home. Peggy was born on December 6, 1932 in Herrin to James & Neva (Helms) Gentry. She married Aaron Ridgeway on July 15, 1954 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1995. Mrs. Ridgeway was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and her chicken and dumplings and dressing were a family favorite. She enjoyed supervising her grandchildrens household chores and shopping for curtains. Peggy was of Baptist faith. Survivors include- Son & daughter in law- Rodney & Sandie Laney of Freeman Spur Son & daughter in law- David & Kim Ridgeway of Herrin Son- Tom Ridgeway of Freeman Spur Daughter & son in law- Tammy & John McClure of Freeman Spur Daughter & son in law- Michele & Greg Kerrigan of Herrin Son in law- Tom McMurray of Herrin Eight Grandchildren: Rodney Laney, Jr. of Sesser Ryan Laney of West Frankfort Tabitha Morris of Energy Matthew Morris of Freeman Spur Rebecca McClure of Freeman Spur Thomas Ridgeway, Jr. of Freeman Spur Brandon Kerrigan of Herrin McKayla Kerrigan of Herrin Six Great Grandchildren: Hannah Laney of Herrin Janessa Laney of West Frankfort Kalin Laney of West Frankfort Dillon Ridgeway of Freeman Spur Cameron Ridgeway of Freeman Spur Gwen Ridgeway of Freeman Spur Sister & brother in law- Lois & Jim Garavaglia of Freeman Spur Sister- Sharon Gentry of Freeman Spur Several nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Cathy Ann McMurray, brothers- James, Bobby & Billy Gentry, sisters- Juanita Bailey & Glodene Bailey and brother in law- Wayne Bailey. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Monday, March 31, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
