Perry Albert Hilliard, 84 passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 8:45 A.M. at Helia Healthcare of Carbondale. Perry was a lifetime resident of Marion, born August 10, 1924 the son of Robert and Dorothy (Merrell) Hilliard. He married Betty Jane Phillips on June 29, 1976 in Murphysboro and together they have shared over 32 years of marriage. Perry was a Sgt in the United States Army during World War II and he was a retired coal miner. In addition to his wife, Betty Jane, Perry is survived by his: Son Tascino Hilliard of Chicago, Illinois Step-Daughter Beverly Yearack of Atlanta, Georgia Step-Son Timothy Yearack and wife Sabrina of Marion Grandson Brandon Yearack of Marion Grandson Brent Giles Rose of Mulkeytown Great Grandson Trenton Rose of Mulkeytown Sister - June Hilliard of Spillertown Lifetime Friend Avis Atwood Edwards Preceded by Parents, Step-Son - Terry Yearack and Sister Edna Funeral services will be Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 1 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Kallem officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, IL 62959.
