Pete Walker

Herrin- Frank Pete Walker, Jr., 66, of Herrin, passed away at 9:00 AM, Monday, February 18, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born on February 8, 1942 in Herrin to Frank & Anna Mae (Whittington) Walker. He married Patricia Diane Wells on November 28, 1981 in Herrin. She survives of Herrin. Mr. Walker worked as a fork lift operator at Orpak in Herrin until his retirement after forty years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed raking the yard and tending to his vegetable garden. He enjoyed fishing at various area lakes and ponds, riding his four-wheeler and listening to George Jones. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. A. Cuartes and his compassionate staff. Survivors include- Wife- Diane Walker of Herrin Daughter & son in law- Violet & Dave Choate of Herrin Daughter & son in law- Sandra & Curtis Haught of Herrin Daughter & son in law- Kathy & Sam English of Herrin Daughter- Leah Walker & companion Carl McFarland of Energy Son & daughter in law- James & Kelly Burnett of DeSoto, IL Daughter & son in law- Teresa & Oliver Miner of Marion Son- Tommy Burnett of Herrin Son- Billy Burnett of Herrin Son- Roy Holland of Carbondale Thirty Grandchildren Sixteen grandchildren plus two on the way Brother & sister in law- Raymond & Daisy Walker of Herrin Many nieces & nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Kenneth Walker & one sister- Ruth Shadowens. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service, Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
