Herrin- Philip Trapani, 76, of Herrin died at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at his home.
Mr. Trapani was born on October 30, 1924 in Rockvale, CO to Ben & Ann (Arrigo) Trapani. He married Dorothy Bayles on April 28, 1950 in Houma, LA. She survives of Herrin.
Philip worked as a contractor and brick mason before his retirement. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran where he served as an aircraft welder in both the American and Asiatic Pacific theatres. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 50 yr. Member of Bricklayer Local Union #8 of IL. During his spare time he enjoyed fishing and making beautiful furniture for his wife and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Katie Trapani, and one granddaughter; Nicole Wilkerson.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday August 17, 2001 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Mnsg. Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 6-9:00 PM, Thursday, August 16, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. A prayer service will be recited Thursday, 6PM, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church or to Cabbrini Hall or to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
