Phyllis Chamness

December 13, 1926 — July 17, 2018

Phyllis Chamness, 91, of Marion was reunited with her husband Clydell in heaven on July 17, 2018 at 6:15 am. Phyllis was born on December 13, 1926 in Marion. She was the daughter of Paul and Hazel (Brigham) Marks.  She married the love of her life, Clydell Chamness, on November 25, 1945.  Together they shared 67 years of marriage until his death on October 17, 2013. Phyllis was a member of Scottsboro Baptist Church in Marion where she was active in Ladies Missionary and Prayer and Share. She always enjoyed attending church and helping in bible school. Phyllis was a homemaker and spent her time raising her four sons. Phyllis was always proud of her children and grandchildren.  She always enjoyed watching her grandchildren and making memories with them.  Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially playing cards and dominoes.  Phyllis will be loved and missed by all that knew her. Phyllis is survived by her four sons; Mike Chamness of Paulton Steve Chamness of Johnston City Jeff Chamness of Marion Greg Chamness and wife Michelle of Paulton Six grandchildren; Shawn Norman of Marion Paul Chamness of Creal Springs Jason Chamness and wife Angela of Silverdale, Washington Janel Chamness of Marion Kasie Ham and husband Ian of Paulton Jessica Hill and husband Ross of Paulton Eight great grandchildren Two sisters; Janice Fuller of Alamo, Texas Brenda Hay and husband Richard of Chatham Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers; Jack Marks and George Marks, grandson; Timothy Chamness, two daughter-in-laws; Jennifer Chamness and Sue Chamness. Funeral services will Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1 pm at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday morning from 11 am until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Scottsboro Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois  62959.
