R. David Carter

Herrin- RALPH DAVID CARTER, age 57, of Herrin, passed away at 6:23am on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Marion. David was born on March 28, 1949 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Ralph Vernon and Cora Irene (Gist) Carter. Mr. Carter was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during Vietnam. He was a member of the Buccaneers Club in Johnston City and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Marion. Survivors include his sister, Phyllis Carter of Herrin; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter- Amanda Lee Carter. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. J.K. Tiffen officiating. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the Herrin American Legion and VFW Posts. Arrangements are being handled by Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
