Herrin - Richard Ward "R. W." Steckenrider, 86, died at 11:07 a. m. on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Raulerson Hospital, Okeechobee, Florida. He was born July 28, 1915 in Christopher, Il to Thomas J. and Georgia (McGinnis) Steckenrider. He married Cecile Greenwood on September l7, l936 in Chicago, IL. She survives. He was a plant superintendent for 36 years with Diagraph Bradley in the Ordill Area. He was a member of the Christopher Masonic Lodge Number l0l6, the Herrin Eagles Club and attended Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors are: His wife - Cecile Steckenrider - Marion, IL Two sons and daughters in law - Robert Richard and Susan Steckenrider - St. Louis, MO David W. and Janet Steckenrider - Marion, IL 7 grandchildren - Brian Steckenrider - St. Louis, MO Christopher Steckenrider - St. Louis, MO David Steckenrider - Goreville, IL Julie and Larry Davis - Cadiz, KY Jeannie and Jason Sittig - Cadiz, KY Brenda Book - Johnston City, IL Shealini Upchurch - Marion, IL 10 great grandchildren Sister - Betty Rowland - Christopher, IL Sister - Rosemary Sizemore - Orlando, FL His parents, one brother John Steckenrider and one sister, Norma Atchison preceded him in death. Funeral services at 11:30 a. m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Ed Null will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, IL. Burial will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery in Mulkeytown, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
