Ramona P. Smits

Marion Ramona P. Smits, 70, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 8:02 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Ramona was born July 31, 1935 in Brookings, SD to Carl and Marie (Nielsen) Ikast. She married Darrel Smits on September 9, 1955 in Brookings, SD and together they have shared over 50 years of marriage. Ramona was a homemaker. She attended Anderson College. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Marion, PEO Marion Chapter MN, Marion Garden Club and several bridge clubs. Ramona is survived by: Husband Darrel Smits of Marion Son David Smits and wife Judy of Marion Daughter Denise Frye and Companion Scott Robison of Marion Two Grandchildren; Chasity Milligan and husband Steve of Marion Sean Frye of Chicago Two Great Grandchildren; Tyler & Conner Milligan of Marion Brother Jerry Ikast and wife Audrey of Brookings, SD Sisters; Gloria Wagner and husband Paul of Brookings, SD Verna Lee and husband Roy of Phoenix, AZ Several nieces and nephews Preceded by Parents, Two Sisters Delores Smith and Grace Ikast Funeral services will be Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Marion with Rev. Dan Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
