Raymond Gibbons

Marion- RAYMOND GIBBONS, age 90, of Marion, passed away at 4:30pm on, Monday, October 22, 2018 at his grandson’s home in rural Harrisburg. Raymond was born in Carb Orchard on April 22, 1928, the son of Ed and Mary (Scroggins) Gibbons. He married Dorothy Jean Slater March 1, 1951 in Marion. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2009. Mr. Gibbons was a retired iron worker for 30 years and a coal miner for five years.  He was a member of the iron worker’s local #1 in Chicago. Survivors include- Son- Raymond Lee and Cynthia Ann Gibbons of Meridian, MS Daughter- Shirley Ann and Bruce Gibbens of Johnston City, IL Daughter- Sherry Jan and Mickey Thompson of Latrobe, PA Son- Ronald Dee and Brenda Kay Gibbons of Tamaroa, IL Five Grandchildren- Tammy Hall, Tracy and Peppy Nicholson, Heather and Jim Nielsen, Jon Thompson, Keith and Carrie Payne Eleven Great Grandchildren- Jamie, Jessica, Jonathan, Tiffany,  Christopher, Joseph, Katherine, McKenzie,  Makayla, Kerrigan,     Karsyn Six Great Great Grandchildren- Hannah, Camron, Lilee, Sophie, Liam, Isabel Sister- Mary Norris Numerous Nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Keith McDannel officiating. Burial will follow at #8 Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Wednesday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
