April 9, 2006 Obituary Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home Please use pic and VA Flag REV. BILL SANDERS Energy- Rev. Bill Sanders, 79, of Energy, passed away at 1:00 AM, Sunday, April 9, 2006 at his home surrounded by his wife and family. Bill was born on November 16, 1926 to Hiram and Clara (Rich) Sanders. Bill was a WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He married June McKenzie on September 24, 1950 in Energy. She survives of Energy. Rev. Sanders was retired from Diagraph Bradley where he worked for forty years. He was an ordained minister for fifty four years and served as pastor of Cambria First Baptist Church. He also served as pastor of Scottsboro Baptist Church for twenty four years. In addition to Lone Oak Baptist Church, he also ministered at Tamaroa Grace Baptist, Shiloh Baptist and Northern Baptist Church in West Frankfort. He was an interim pastor of Warder Street Baptist in Marion. He served as past president of the Cambria Ministerial Alliance and was a charter member of the Herrin Gardeners Club. SURVIVORS: Wife- June Sanders of Energy Daughter- Donna (Sanders) Hankamer and fianc Larry J. Dugan of Energy Sister- Reba Bennett of West Frankfort Sister- Dorothy Robinson of Tucson, AZ Sister- Betty Meadows of Herrin Several nieces & nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Riley, Daniel Doc & Jesse Sanders and three sisters; Naomi Aaron, Ruby Maynard & Oveta Rakoczy. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Jerry Smith, Rev. Randy McNeely and Rev. George Ritter will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Cambria First Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
