Marion Rev. Marion F. Boyd, 80, of Jackson, MI formerly of Marion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 18, 2004.
Rev. Boyd was born August 16, 1923 to Marion F. and Alice Geneva (Stafford) Boyd in Creal Springs. He married Marie Phillips and together they have shared 58 years.
Rev. Boyd served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the 351st Bomb Group in Polebrook England. He flew on 30 combat missions over Europe from December of 1943 through May of 1944. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal and the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters. He also received a Presidential Unit Citation.
Rev. Boyd graduated from Eastern Michigan University and received a Masters Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served in ministry for 50 years in Arkansas, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma and then returned to Jackson, Michigan in 1967 where he served as the Area Director of Missions for the Baptist State Convention of Michigan.

Son Mark Boyd and wife Julie of Atlanta, GA
Four Cherished Grandsons:
Lloyd Bryan, Brandon, Christopher and Matthew
Sister Billie Jean Hadlock of Vernal, Utah
Several Nieces and Nephews
Preceded by Parents, Sister Allegra Faye Boyd.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 23, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Brett Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery. VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147 of Marion will perform military rites. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
