Marion- Rev. Paul Ramsey, 96, of Marion, passed away at 8:10 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Herrin Hospital. He was born on August 30, 1915 in West Frankfort to John Waters and Mary (Hicks) Ramsey. He married Elma Ramsey on December 23, 1944 in Marion. She preceded him in death on September 4, 1990. Rev. Ramsey was a minister for sixty-two years. He was a member of the Marion First Church of God and his passion was his church and ministry. He enjoyed visiting those sick and shut in and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Survivors include- Son- John Hubert Ramsey and wife Nina of Loganville, GA Son- Rev. David Ramsey and wife Cheryl of Lakeland, FL Daughter- Martha Jo Ramsey of Marion Daughter- Naomi Richmond and husband Pat of Lacon, IL Daughter- Rebecca Lynn Ramsey of Marion Seven Grandchildren Nineteen Great Grandchildren Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and one sister. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Southern Illinois Church of God Campground in West Frankfort. Revs. John Neace, Jim Glover, Richard Dobbs, Gregg Tibbs, Dan Smith and his son- Rev. David Ramsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Marion First Church of God and from 12:00PM until time of service, Tuesday, at the campground. Funeral arrangements were made through Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Memorial donations are suggested to the Southern Illinois Church of God Campground in West Frankfort and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 North Market St/ Marion, IL 62959.
