Marion Richard A. Rushing, 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 9:49 A.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Mr. Rushing was born April 13, 1928 the son of Oda Cane & Mary Ella (Fincher) Rushing in Metropolis. He married Mildred M. Moorman on July 5, 1952 in Metropolis and together they shared over 51 years of marriage until her death on March 19, 2004. Richard was an Army veteran, he retired from Southern Illinois Power as a control operator. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, IBEW #702 West Frankfort, and the American Legion of Metropolis. Survivors include: Two Sons: Alan Rushing and wife Ann of Marion John Rushing of Marion One Daughter and Son-in-law: Debbie Meneese and husband Steve of Marion Four Grandchildren: Jon Meneese and wife Natalia of St. Louis Josh Meneese of Tampa Bay, Florida Ellie Rushing of Jackson, Missouri Karen Rushing of Marion Great Grandchild Alyssa Lattuca of Marion Brother Melvin Mutt Rushing and wife Odessa of Metropolis Sister Martha Lou Staulcup of Pontiac Several nieces and nephews Preceded by: Parents, Wife, Mildred, Brothers, Odie, William, Alfred Babe, Norris Rushing and Sisters, Colleen Emery, Reba Rushing and Betty Fiorentini. Funeral services will be Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Linda Coulson officiating. Private burial will be in Freedom Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Unit. There will be no visitation. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
