Richard D. Lockwood, 80, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 7:15 pm at Herrin Hospital surrounded by his family.
Richard was born August 2, 1935 in Harrisburg the son of John W. and Gladys (Hart) Lockwood. He married Jacquelyn K. Kaeser on September 7, 1957 in Marion and together they have shared almost 58 years of marriage.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Richard retired from the State of Illinois. In his position as an administrator he worked on state and community projects helping with securing grants and planning. Richard and his wife Jacki shared a love of flying, both holding their pilots license and he built two airplanes.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his Sister – Catherine Barter (Steve) of The Woodlands, Texas, Two brothers – John W. Lockwood (Judy) of Solvang, California and Michael Lockwood (Judy) of Austin, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and Son – Micheal Lockwood.
Funeral mass will be Friday, August 28, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of service at the church. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with services.
