Richard J. "Dick" Ostema

Herrin- Richard J. Dick Ostema, 67, of Herrin, formerly of Morrison, passed away at 2:21 AM, Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born on January 5, 1943 in Morrison, IL to James Bernard & Hildred L. (Piper) Ostema. He married Frieda Cargill on January 7, 1995 in Carpentersville, IL. She survives of Herrin. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served many years as a State Trooper in Illinois before retiring from NTN Bearing Company after fifteen years. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Elgin. Survivors include- Wife- Frieda Ostema of Herrin Son- Bill Ostema of Centennial, CO Son- Glenn Ostema & wife Kristen of Aurora, CO Daughter- Sandra Jacoby & husband Robert of Lake In The Hills, IL Daughter- Angela Bania & husband Michael of Mchenry, IL Daughter- Sheila Jimenez & husband Manny of Pingree Grove, IL Daughter- Jamie Dyszczakowski & husband James of Energy Seven Grandchildren Brother- John Ostema of Yarnell, AZ Sister- Marsha Maag of DeKalb Nephew- Bill Poore & wife Bev of Kingston, IL He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister- Carol Jean Norkaitas and sisters- Joyce Ostema and Sharon Norkaitas. The memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Victory Baptist Church in Carterville. Rev. Aaron Barrett will officiate. Rev. Robert Jacoby and Pastor Glen Aulgur will co-officiate. Military rites will be performed at the church by the Herrin VFW and American Legion Posts. A time of gathering will begin at 10:00 AM at Victory Baptist Church in Carterville. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, KY. Memorial arrangements were made at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
