Richard L. Allgaier

Marion- RICHARD LEE RICK ALLGAIER, age 74, of Marion, passed away at 9:45pm on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Fountains Nursing Home in Marion. Richard was born in St Louis, MO on December 27, 1929, the son of Lee Lorain and Alice (Webb) Allgaier. He married Jenney A. King in Marion on December 17, 1977. They shared twenty-six years of marriage, until her death on April 1, 2004. Mr. Allgaier was retired from the construction business. Survivors include: Five Sons- Sgt. William Scott Downey of Fort Bragg, NC Brian Charles Downey of Johnston City, IL Gerald Brett and Shannon Downey of Dublin, VA Nick Allgaier of Missouri Steve Allgaier of Missouri Three Daughters- Faith Louise and Avery Penley of Marion, IL Sheri Lee and Steve Penley of Johnston City, IL Tamara Saline and Don Keen of Marion, IL Thirteen Grandchildren Ten Great Grandchildren Brother- Everett and Julie Allgaier of Marion, IL He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, February 18, 2008 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held from noon-2:00pm on Monday at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
