Richard Lee O'Neal

Marion- Richard Lee O’Neal, age 77, of Marion, passed away at 7:42am on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin.

Richard was born in Carbondale on October 18, 1943, the son of Kenneth “Doc” and Lucille (Russell) O’Neal. Richard was an only child and never had any children of his own. His father was killed in World War II. 

Mr. O’Neal was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion. Prior to his retirement, he had worked in banking in California.

Graveside services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
