Rita R. Niederkorn

Herrin- RITA RUTH NIEDERKORN, age 76, of Herrin, passed away at 1:43pm on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Herrin Hospital. Rita was born in Granite City on February 19, 1933, the daughter of Frank Robert and Ruth Mary (Barkley). She married Donald E. Niederkorn in Wood River, IL on June 3, 1950. They shared fifty-eight years of marriage. He survives in Herrin. Mrs. Niederkorn was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. She was retired from Herrin Security Bank. Survivors include two daughters- Sue Ann Wolters and husband Willard of Red Bud, IL Linda Lee Dunteman of Chesterfield, MO Six Grandchildren- Julie Baxter of Lincoln, IL Leeann Watson of West Frankfort, IL William Christopher and Carie Wolters of Battlecreek, MI Laura Jane and Matthew Westbrock of Lindenhurst, IL Ariel Paige Dunteman of Chesterfield, MO Aubrey Noele Dunteman of Chesterfield, MO 3 Great Grandchildren- Blake, Annaless, and Leroy Baxter of Lincoln, IL Rita was preceded in death by her parents, one son- David A. Niederkorn, and one great grandson- Christopher Michael CJ Wolters. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Saint Patricks Cemetery in Godfrey, IL. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
