Robert Alan Brewer

Herrin- Robert. A. Bob Brewer, 58, of Herrin, passed away at 8:13 AM, Friday, September 7, 2012 at Herrin Hospital. Bob was born on April 13, 1954 in Chicago to Dallas and Lois J. (Shelton) Brewer. He married Sheilah Jones on November 9, 1974 in Herrin. She preceded him in death on May 29, 1993. He married Kendra Summers on November 16, 1996 in Cambria. She survives of Herrin. He was a United Stated Army veteran who served his country proudly. Once honorably discharged, he worked more than thirty years as a union roofer for Local #2 in St. Louis, MO. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, jugging with his children and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include- Wife- Kendra Brewer of Herrin Daughter- Charli Gurley and companion Debbie of Marion Daughter- Kelly Rubach and husband Joshua of Killeen, TX Step Daughter- Tia Loyd of Herrin Step Son- Kyle Orso and wife Megan of Herrin Grandchildren- Sheilah Gurley of Marion and Cory Schmitt of Herrin Brother- Bill Oakley and wife Sharen of Cambria Brother- Jimmy Brewer of Morgan City, LA Sister- Becky Gaines and husband Rick of Marietta, GA Sister in law- Sherrie Newman and husband Tom of Doniphan, MO Nephew who was like a son- Dallas Brewer of Herrin Several other nieces and nephews and cousins He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, sister in law- Terri Boggs and brother in law- Jamie Wilkey. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor R. H. Chitwood will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery with military honors performed at graveside by members of the Herrin American Legion and VFW Posts and the Illinois National Guard. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Tuesday at the funeral home.
