Robert Earl Jack Cain of Herrin passed away at 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 20, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He had been battling cancer for quite some time. After coming to know the Lord in March, Jesus called him home at the age of 77.
He was born on March 11, 1932 to Marie & Earl (Parmley) Cain. He was an only child. Jack married Bonnie Starbuck on October 16, 1995 in Paducah, KY. She survives of Herrin.
Jack was a retired coal miner who worked many hard years at Consolidated Coal Company in Sesser. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He loved fishing with his wife and friends, but his greatest pleasure was cooking and serving the fish he caught. He also took great pride in making his famous chili and taking it to family gatherings. He loved to plant a garden and share his tomatoes and peppers with everyone and taking care of bird houses and working with tools.
