Pittsburg Robert Eugene Gene Clark, 88, passed away on Friday, October 07, 2005 at 3:25 A.M. at his home surrounded by his family. Gene was born July 31, 1917 to John Will and Delia (Tanner) Clark in Williamson County. He married Juanita Ailene Williams on November 16, 1939 in Williamson County and together they shared 55 years of marriage until her death on November 13, 1994. Gene worked at Zeigler #4 Coal Mine and was a member of UMW of A. He was a proud American, answering the call to serve his country during WWII, where he served overseas for 3 years in the Army. He was a member of Corinth Church of God of Prophecy. Gene loved his family, children and grand children. Survivors include: Three Sons: James L. Clark and wife LeAnn of Marion Larry D. Clark and wife Marilyn of Pittsburg Richard L. Clark and wife Brenda of Pittsburg Four Daughters: Brenda J. Verble and husband David Ray of Buncombe LuAnn Anderson and husband Jim of Thompsonville Susan J. Hearn and husband Larry of Pittsburg Pamela Richard and husband Mick of Pittsburg Twenty-Five Grandchildren Forty-Three Great Grandchildren Sister in law Gayle Clark of Pittsburg Several nieces and nephews Preceded by: Parents, wife Juanita, Son Robert Keith Clark, Brothers Vernell, Ray, Ralph, and Steve Clark, and Sisters Infant Marie, Madge White, Mabel Stephens, Blanch Turnage and Gladys Sellars. Funeral services will be Monday, October 10, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Howat officiating. Burial will follow in #8 Cemetery in Pittsburg. Military services will be performed at the graveside by Marion VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 P.M. 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be given in Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
