Robert J. Carter

Herrin- Robert J. Carter, Jr., 62, of Crestwood, formerly of Bush, passed away at 5:25 PM, Friday, July 10, 2009 at RML Specialty Hospital in Hinsdale, IL. Robert was born on October 27, 1946 in Herrin to Robert J. & Rev. Naomi (Goshen) Carter, Sr. He married Renee Volpi on November 15, 1980 in Hickory Hills, IL. Together they shared twenty nine wonderful years. She survives of Crestwood. Robert was a commercial carpenter for the last ten years, many of which were with Jim Taylor & Sons Construction Co. Prior to that he spent many years as a sheet metal worker. He enjoyed building street rods, fishing and spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He and Renee liked going to car shows and going on vacation. Most recently they went to Cabo san Lucas for their anniversary. They went Deep Sea fishing and had a wonderful time. Survivors include- Wife- Renee Carter of Crestwood Daughter- Melissa Zizas & husband Robert of Crest Hill Son- Robert D. Carter & wife Suzie of Manhattan Daughter- Melanie Noland & husband Kevin of Plainfield Nine Grandchildren: Christopher, Amber & Rachel Haley, Skyler & Stephen Clayton Carter, Madelyn & Michael Robert Sister- Pastor Linda S. Godfrey & husband David of Bush Nieces & nephews: Sandra, Christopher & Ryan Best Friends- Jerry Antonnaci, Jim Taylor & Jim Hopkins He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Crossroads Tabernacle in Hurst. Rev. Michael Glasco will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
