Bush- ROBERT J. CARTER, age 82, of Bush, passed away at 4:40am on Wednesday,
January 10, 2007 in his home.
Robert was born in Harco, IL on June 4, 1924 to Henry and Lela (Carver)
Carter. He married Naomi Goshen in Cambria on January 15, 1946. Together they
shared sixty years of marriage and would have celebrated their 61st
anniversary on Monday, January 15th.
Mr. Carter was a retired coal miner for Old Ben Mine #21. He was a member of
the United Mine Workers of America #1124 and the Auto Mechanics Local #701.
Robert was a World War II Navy Veteran of the Seabees Division.
Mr. Carter was a member of Crossroads Tabernacle Church. He loved the children
and ran the bus ministry for over ten years, even the Sunday before his
passing.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 61 years, Rev. Naomi (Goshen)
Carter of Bush; one son- Robert J. Carter Jr and his wife Renee of Crestwood,
IL; one daughter- Linda S. Godfrey and her husband David of Bush, IL; six
grandchildren- Melissa & Robert Zizas, Robert & Suzie Carter, Melanie & Kevin
Noland, Sandra & John Wyskochil, Christopher Godfrey, and Ryan Godfrey; ten
great grandchildren-Chris, Amber, Clayton, Madlyn, Haley, Rachel, Skyler,
Steven, John, and Christopher; one niece- Patty; one great-nephew- Dwayne.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at
Crossroads Tabernacle Church in Hurst-Bush with Rev. Michael Glasco
officiating. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be
held from 5-9pm on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in
Herrin.

accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
