Robert T. "Terry" Pike

July 3, 1944 — December 5, 2022

Terry Pike passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022 at his home south of Marion.

Terry was born July 3, 1944 in Peoria, IL to Robert L. and Eva Marie (Green) Pike.   He grew up on the family farm south of Pontiac, IL and graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1962.  He married Sunny Lee Coup on April 10, 1966 at First United Methodist Church in Pontiac, IL and together they had shared 56 years of marriage.  They had three children; John Pike, Steven Pike and Margaret (Brian) Van Horn, all of Marion.   He had three granddaughters:  Kara (Jordan) Baker, Haley Van Horn and Abby Pike and Niece Megan (Kevin) Mitchell.  He was preceded in death by his parents Robert L. and Eva Marie Pike, his grandparents LeRoy and Riebe Pike and Delbert and Tillie Green, and his sister and her husband Maureen D. and Michael Heath.

After graduating high school Terry attended Midstate College of Commerce in Peoria and farmed with his father, Bob Pike in Livingston County.  In 1972, they moved the farming operation to Marion, IL where he lived for the past 50 years.  While at Marion, Terry owned and operated Pike Farms and Pike’s Hunting Club with Bob and sons John and Steve.  He also worked for Southern FS (formerly Twin County) for 27 years, primarily in the Energy Department driving a fuel truck that delivered millions of gallons of fuel to area farmers and contractors.  He was also a licensed Real Estate Broker.

Terry was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion, a 23-year member of the Williamson County Fire Protection District Board (retiring as President), long time board member of the Williamson County Soil and Water Conservation District and had also been on the board of the Williamson County Farm Bureau.

He was always present at every school program, baseball/softball/soccer/basketball/volleyball game, musical, concert and dance recital that his children and grandchildren were involved with.  Terry had a great impact on many young people who visited the hunting club over the years and will be missed by many.
