Robert E. Triplett, age 97, of Herrin, went to meet his Savior on Sunday, October 22, 2023. He passed away at 4:03pm at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center- Community Living Center.
Robert was born in Herrin on June 29, 1926, the son of Omer and Minnie (Payne) Triplett. He married Wilma Davis in 1943 and to this Union was born their daughter Frances. He married Juanita May Norris on June 24, 1967, in Marion. Together, they shared fifty-two years of marriage, until her passing on November 25, 2019.
At the young age of 17, Bob was drafted into the United State Army in 1944. He was working in the shipyards in Washington when he was drafted. After returning home, he worked for many years at the Maytag plant in Herrin. He later retired from the coal mines and after that, continued to work by mowing for the City of Herrin. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting and loved to fish.
Survivors include his Daughter- Francis Norman and George Bush; Daughter- Charlotte Gail Beasley; Son- Arthur Derek and Debbie Ramsey; Grandchildren- Christa Ramsey, Garrett Beasley, JoAnna and Don Morehead, Larissa and Johnny Riggs, Bronte', Blayze, and Brielle Taylor, Carla and Jack Greenwood, Geri and Scott Ellis, Carl Erik Wolf, and Johnny Harris; Great Grandchildren- Heather and Darbi Ellis, Jack and Lauren Greenwood, Jerry and Kendra Greenwood, Jennifer and Tim Curran, Nathan and Grace Beasley, Easton and Chesney Beasley, Erik, Carly and Tony Wolf, Connor and Tyler Clark, Naudia Harris, and Tori Bloodworth; several great great grandchildren whom he adored.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings-Leona, Thomas, Eugene, Woodrow, Dennis, Harold "Shine", Lenord, Pearl, and Haleen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery with military honors provided. The visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
