Robert W. Travelstead

Goreville- ROBERT WAYNE TRAVELSTEAD, age 73, of Goreville, passed away at Midnight on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at his home in Goreville. Robert was born in Williamson County on July 7, 1937, raised by his mother, Mable Merrell Travelstead, and step-father, Garnett Perk Wilson. He married Wanda F. Rodgers in Pulleys Mill Pentecostal Church on January 21, 1965. She survives in Goreville. Mr. Travelstead was a member of Pulleys Mill Pentecostal Church. Robert retired from Zeigler Old Ben Coal Company. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a United States navy Veteran. Survivors include his wife- Wanda F. Travelstead of Goreville, IL Son- Richard and Kim Travelstead of Goreville, IL Daughter- Tammy and Rick Wood of Summerville, SC Son- Keith and Mary Travelstead of Marion, IL Son- Kevin Shorty and Chris Travelstead of Goreville, IL Son- Philip and Jennifer Travelstead of Goreville, IL Son- David L. Travelstead of Goreville, IL Grandchildren- 12 Great Grandchildren- 7 He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, one brother- Carl Dean Travelstead, and one infant daughter. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jerry Huckleberry officiating. Burial will follow at Cana Cemetery in Goreville with military rites presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Detail Unit. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Monday evening at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral home in Marion.
