Rodney Lee Laney, Sr.

Freeman Spur- RODNEY LEE LANEY, SR, age 57, of Freeman Spur, passed away at 5:13pm on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Fountains Nursing Home in Marion. Rodney was born in Herrin on September 6, 1952, the son of Aaron and Peggy (Gentry) Ridgeway. He had worked as a supervisor at various boat plants, including Mark Twain, Conquest, and Mariah. Survivors include his two sons- Rodney Lee Laney, Jr. of West Frankfort, IL Ryan Laney of West Frankfort, IL Three grandchildren- Hannah Laney of Herrin, IL Janessa and Caelin Laney of West Frankfort, IL Former Wife- Sandi Laney of Herrin, IL Two brothers- David and Kim Ridgeway of Herrin, IL Tom Ridgeway of Freeman Spur, IL Two sisters- Tammy and John McClure of Freeman Spur, IL Michelle Ridgeway and fianc Greg Kerrigan of Herrin, IL Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister- Cathy McMurray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
