Roger W. Hines, 62, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10:38 A.M. at Washington County Hospital in Nashville, Illinois.
Roger was born September 15, 1947 in Riverside, New Jersey the son of Richard & Ellen (Ryan) Hines. He married Jackie DeMonsi on July 19, 1969 in Riverside, New Jersey and together they have shared over 41 years of marriage.
He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church and retired from SIU as Supervisor of the Physical Plant. Roger had proudly answered the call to service his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post #147, and a Lifetime member of the VFW #1301, where he served as Quarter Master and Chaplin of the Ritual Team. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, past Grand Knight and a member of the Tin Can Sailors.

Preceded by his Parents and Mother-in-law Mary DeMonsi.
The funeral mass will be Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 10 A.M. at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Rev. Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Detail Unit. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 8 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. The prayer service will be held at 5 P.M. followed by the 4th Degree mKnights of Columbus service.
