Roger Leon Lewis, 81, passed away on Monday, December 05, 2011 at 1:20 P.M. at his home in Marion.
Roger was born May 2, 1930 in Marion the son of Lloyd and Grace (Baker) Lewis. He married Mary Juanita Gibson on August 7, 1981 in West Frankfort and together they have shared over 30 years of marriage, she survives in Marion.
He proudly answered the call to serve his country during the Korean Conflict in the Army where he received a Bronze Star for his service. He worked as a crane operator in Chicago and after returning to Marion he worked for the City of Marion for 12 years. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Carterville, Marion VFW Post #1301, Williamson County Shriners Club and Marion Masonic Fellowship Lodge #89 AF&AM

Funeral services will be Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Algur officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery with military rites presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and members of the National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
