Romilda J. Hundley

HERRIN -- Romilda J. Hundley, age 84, passed away at 4:27 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at her home in Herrin. Romilda was born in Herrin on December 10, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Estella (Marshall) Scerena. She married Isaac Hundley in Herrin on March 27, 1950. Together they shared forty years of marriage, until his passing on December 5, 1990. Mrs. Hundley had attended the Second Baptist Church in Herrin. She was a member of the Herrin Senior Citizens. In her younger years, Romilda enjoyed quilting, sewing and embroidery. Later in life, she grew to love crossword puzzles and board games. Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law- Eleanor and Donald Quaglia of Herrin Nephews- David and Linda Quaglia of Herrin Mark and Lola Scerena of Herrin Chuck Hutchison of Herrin, currently stationed at Fort Benning, GA Nieces- Janice Davis of Herrin Cindy and Daryl Winn of Herrin Sara and Mark Emery of Herrin Elena and Steve Goins of Herrin Lisa and Tod Spezia of Danville Amy and Mark Holloway of Springfield Several great nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother- Wendell Scerena, and sister- Eugenia Hutchison. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Romildas caregivers, including- LaDonna, Elaine, Treena, Kathy, Cindy and Dee. A special thanks also goes out to all the staff at Hospice of Southern Illinois for your caring and compassion. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with Mr. Daryl Winn officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 11 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to St Judes Childrens Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
