Herrin- Charles Ron Waldrop, 81, of Herrin, passed away at 7:00 AM, Sunday, October 28, 2007 at his home.
Ron was born on September 17, 1926 in Herrin to Charles & Alice (Mason) Waldrop. He fought bravely during WWII while stationed in the Army Air Corp in the Pacific. Once stateside he married Ramona McGee on July 8, 1950 in Herrin. He loved spending time with and dancing with his wife of fifty seven years. She survives of Herrin.
He retired as Director of Engineering Services of Norge after forty one years of service. Ron served on the Herrin City Planning Commission. He was an active member of the Herrin First Presbyterian Church and was a former deacon.
Mr. Waldrop was a member of Herrin Prairie Masonic Lodge #693, the Herrin Jr. Ball League (he also coached baseball for several years), and the Franklin County Country Club (he golfed with the Bologna Bunch). He truly enjoyed his family and attended all of his grandchildrens sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Michael Neubert will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
