Ronald Gene Masterson

Herrin- RONALD GENE MASTERSON, age 80, of Herrin, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Nursing Center in Marion. Ronald was born in St. Louis on January 16, 1932, the son of Ben and Lula (Wilson) Masterson. He proudly served in the United States Navy, where he worked as a Navy cook. Survivors include his fianc- Elsie Edwards of Herrin Sister- Nancy M. Gillison of Hugo, OK 4 daughters- Wanda (Bob), Elsie (Scotty), Ailene, and Lula (Josh) 3 sons- Billy (Vicky), Howard (Lisa), and Orville Grandchildren- Scott, Monica, Cheyanne, Dusty, Luke, Mercedes, Autumn, Toria, Isabella, Madalyn, Dylon, Mandy, Lacey, Vince (Crystal), Gabrielle, Ashley and James Several great grandchildren Dear Friend- Bill Edwards of Texas Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson- Tommy Loyd Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Military rites will be performed at the funeral home by the Herrin American Legion and VFW Posts. Visitation will be held from 11-1pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 12:30pm on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Mound City National Cemetery. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the family.
