Rose DeTomasi

Herrin- Rose DeTomasi, 95, of Herrin, died at 7:30 PM, Friday, August 24, 2007, at Herrin Hospital. Rose was born on March 3, 1912 in Fidelity, Arkansas to Tony & Seconda (Cometti) Lavezzi. She married Umbert C. DeTomasi on November 15, 1939 in Herrin. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1991. She worked until 1942 as an administrative and medical assistant to Dr. W.C. Gardiner. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Survivors include- Daughter- Marilyn K. DeTomasi, Ph.D. of Herrin Nephew- Louis Alegnani & wife Isabel of Herrin Niece- Louise Angeletti of Ft. Smith, Arkansas Niece- Carole Pierron & husband Firmin of San Jose, CA She is also survived by her dear friends, neighbors, extended family members and her little doll, Macy Kuhnke of Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother; Bennie Lavezzi, sisters- Catherine Maestri & husband Leo, Santina Alegnani & husband Tony, Lena Campbell & Mary Lavezzi and brother in law and sister in law; Frank & Edith DeTomasi. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, August 27, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be from 1:30PM, until time of service Monday at the funeral home. The family extends sincere appreciation for the professional and loving care of Dr. A Pramote and staff of Herrin Hospital and Hospice of Southern Illinois. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois, St. Judes Childrens Hospital or San Carlo Cemetery Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
