She was born September 15, 1917 in Eldorado, IL to Joseph and Catherine (Marvelli) Garaffa. She married Joseph P. Conti on September 5, l940 in DuQuoin, IL. He died July l5, l975. She was a homemaker and a member of OLMC Catholic Church in Herrin. She was a member of the St. Anne's Society and the Catholic Women's Club. Survivors include Daughter and son in law - Rosalie and David Woods - Godfrey, IL Daughter and son in law - Cathy and Don Brandon - Herrin, IL Grandson - Bart Woods - Godfrey, IL Granddaughter and spouse - Deborah and Todd Ely - Alton, IL Granddaughter - Michelle Brandon - Glendale Heights, IL Grandson - Patrick Brandon - St. Louis, MO Great grandchild - Chance Ely - Alton, IL Brother and sister in law - Frank and Mary Grafft - Battle Creek, MI Host of nieces and nephews Sister in law - Ann Conti - Weirton, West Virginia Her parents, husband, three sisters, Josephine, Mary and Margaret Polito and two brothers, Rocco Grafft and Tony Garaffa preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September l5, 200l at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Msg. Ken Schaefer will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. on Friday, September l4. Burial will be at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.
