Rosemary Etherton, age 85, formerly of Marion, IL, passed away surrounded by her family, on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Lake Regional Hospital of Osage Beach, Missouri.
She was born on February 25, 1926 at her family home in Marion, IL to Louie (L.B.) and Emma (Bayless) Turnage.
Rosemary graduated from Marion High School in 1943. After graduation she entered the cadet nursing program at Washington University Medical School where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1946.
She married the love of her life, Kenneth Angel Etherton on April 6, 1946, sharing 51 wonderful years together. They served the Lord overseas and in full time ministry until his death on December 1, 1997.
Her relationship with her Savior and Heavenly Father was an inspiration and example to both friends and family. She continually gave of herself and was an example of unconditional love and grace. Her children and grandchildren, serving Christ around the world, counted on her faithful prayers in every situation. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Louise (Turnage) and Gene Dwyer of Crab Orchard, IL, daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth & Steve Estelle of Elfrida, AZ, daughter and son-in-law Robinette & Paul Johnson of Florence, SC, daughter Sandra Peterson of Atascadero, CA, daughter and son-in-law Faith and Jay Jackson of Linn Creek, MO; grandchildren and their families Jason and Shelly Estelle of Peru, Kimberly and Preston Huntting of Africa, Kenny Estelle of Africa, Joey and Susanne Johnson of Dayton, TN, Jeff and Clarissa Johnson of Maitland, FL, Tami Johnson of the Philippines, Tim and Bekka Peterson, Camdenton, MO, Brent and Tiffany Peterson of Bakersville, CA, Jennifer and Steve Hagen of the Philippines,and a host of family and friends.
Arrangements for Rosemary Etherton have been entrusted to Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 N. Market Street, Marion, Illinois. The funeral will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion. A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at The Church at Osage Hills, Osage Beach, MO on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 2:00pm.
