Rosemary Sims, 99, of Marion, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:25 PM, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Rosemary was born on April 11, 1916 in Williamson County, the seventh child of eight children born to Herman and Emily Dora (Newlin) Hudgens. She was united in marriage to John H. Sims on May 22, 1937 in Marion. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1982.
Rosemary was a faithful and active member of Fountain United Methodist Church in Marion since the age of thirteen. She was a dedicated homemaker, making all dishes from scratch. She enjoyed quilting, playing in the Kitchen Band, crossword puzzles and bingo. She had a sense of humor to beat the band and always had a quick wit about her.
She is survived by three children; Johnnie Ray Sims and wife Donna of Marion, Paul E. Sims and wife Jan of Marion and Joyce Bell and husband Charles of Marion, seven grandchildren; Kelley (Mila) Sims of Alto Pass, Tonda (Ray) Huelsman, Farron (Jennifer) Sims and Lana Bell of Marion and Paula (Joe) Tolbert, Preston Sims, Paul E. (Jessica) Simms II of Herrin. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren; Emily (Kirk) Hudson, Maggie Sims, Hillary (Justin) Wing, Zachary Sims, Brock Tolbert, Noah Tolbert, Preston Lee Sims, Kaela Sims, John Wayne Sims, Paul Edward Sims III, Hayden Sims and Lily Sims, two step great grandchildren- Jordan and Dakota Carpenter and two great great grandchildren; Kalli and Peyton Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and seven siblings- Virgil Claire, Glendale, Carl Maxwell, Zach Edward and Max Herman Hudgens and Geneva Mae Hudgens and Ivalee Travelstead, one grandson; Kevin Bell and one great grandchild; Colby Sims.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Pastor Bob Shook will officiate. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery, south of Marion. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Thursday, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
