Roy Gene Calcaterra

Herrin- ROY GENE CALCATERRA, age 72, of Herrin, passed away at 4:18am on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Friendship Care Center in Herrin. Roy was born in Marion on December 28, 1937, the son of Carl T. and Josephine (Piantanida) Calcaterra. He married Lorene Garavaglia in Herrin on April 20, 1964. She survives in Herrin. Roy was the former owner of the Herrin Feed Store. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He was a United States Army Veteran and member of the Herrin Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of forty-six years- Lorene Calcaterra of Herrin, IL One son and daughter-in-law- Andrew and Dana Calcaterra of Herrin, IL Grandchildren- Morgen and Ryley Calcaterra of Herrin, IL Sister-in-law- Josephine Calcaterra of Herrin, IL Aunt- Margie Calcaterra of Herrin, IL Aunt- Adolpha Calcaterra of Herrin, IL Several cousins He was preceded in death by his parents and brother- Carl L. Calcaterra. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with a prayer service Sunday evening at 5:00pm at the funeral home.
