Roy William Deal

Roy William Deal, age 63, of Freeman Spur, passed away at 11:30pm on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Herrin Hospital.

Roy was born in Libbey, Montana on April 15, 1958, the son of Willard and Bonnie (Rodgers) Deal. He married Jody Ashby in Reno, Nevada on March 30, 1996.

Prior to his retirement, Roy had worked as a systems analyst for AT&T for more than 25 years. He proudly served in the United States Navy.

     Rory and Craig Koelzer of Bakersfield, CA

     Dorian Swigert of Freeman Spur

Sons- Marvin and Michelle Swigart of Boise, Idaho

     Ryan Deal of Eureka, CA

Granddaughter- Natalie Deal of Eureka, CA

Great Grandson- Christian Gonzalez of Bakersfield, CA

Great Granddaughter- Lily Bean of Bakersfield, CA

Sister- Joy Deal of Hollywood, FL

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 11am on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Military honors will be provided by Carterville American Legion Post 347, Herrin American Legion Post 645, Herrin VFW Post 1567, and the United States Navy Honor Detail Units. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
