Marion—Ruby Carolyn Short, 78, of Marion, passed away at 5:09 AM, Sunday, March 2, in Niland, CA. Ruby was born in Johnston City, Illinois on May 23, 1935 to Leo Edward and Francis (Jones) Frick. She married Harold Short on January 15, 1977. Ruby was a member of the Marion Independent Baptist Church in Marion. She loved nature and tending to her daffodils and daylilies and watching her fish pond. Survivors include; Daughter—Diane and husband Allen Lindsey of Marion Son—Clifford and wife Jackie Gower of Hahira, Georgia Son—Calvin Gower of Marion Son—Alan and wife Cietta Gower of Marion Step-son—Harold Dean and wife Lori Short of Cape Girardeau Step-son—William J. Short of Anna, Illinois Step-daughter—Jacqueline and husband Joseph Gassaway of Columbia, IL Step-son—Jon and wife Becky Short of St. Louis, Missouri Twenty Grandchildren Eleven Great-grandchildren Brother—Gene Frick of Niland, California Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins She is preceded in death by her parents- Leo Edward Frick and Francis Fox, her brother Bob Frick, and her granddaughter- Ashley Carolyn Gower. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Keith Rankin officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be the evening of Monday, March 10 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorials may be given to the Marion Independent Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Mitchell-Hughes Funeral home, 800 N.
