Marion Russell Spitzner, 90, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 6:20 P.M. at Royal Care of Avon Park, Florida.
Russell was born May 7, 1915 to Percy & Viola (Vinson) Spitzner in Carrier Mills. He married Betty Lee Norman on June 9, 1941 in Bennettsville, South Carolina and together they have shared the last 64 years of marriage.
Russell worked for Freeman Coal Company and retired from the State of Illinois as Assistant Director of Mines. He was a 50 year member of Marion Masonic Lodge #89 AF & AM, a worthy patron of the Eastern Star and a member of P.P. Leroy A Chapter. He and Betty were 20 year members of the WBBCI Club. Russell was a WWII veteran serving his country in the Army, serving overseas where he was awarded a Bronze Star.

Family said their goodbyes at a graveside service held at Norman Cemetery on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. The service was officiated by Dr. Jerry Ford. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion assisted the family with the services.
