Elkville- Lorena J. Sally Smith, 65, of Elkville, formerly of Herrin, passed away with her loving family by her side at 12:04 PM, Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Herrin Hospital.
Sally was born on October 9, 1946 in Paducah, KY to Lloyd L. and Elsie Faye (Wieneke) Stuart. She married Richard Smith on November 27, 1965 in Murphysboro. He survives of Elkville.
She and her husband were janitors at the Herrin Knight of Columbus for twenty years. They also provided custodial services for the CC Club in Herrin.
Sally was a Baptist. She enjoyed crocheting, working and playing Bingo, but her greatest joy was spending time with her great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Husband- Richard Mick Smith of Elkville
Daughter- Connie Taylor and companion Billy Poe of Murphysboro
Daughter- Sharon Carlton and husband Steve of Herrin
Daughter- Christina Smith of Herrin

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter- Kearra Pierce and three brothers- Lloyd Leroy Stuart, Jr., Alvis Stuart and James Stuart.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Gilbert Craig and Chaplain Mike Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
