Herrin- Sam Charles Corky Archione, 68, of Herrin, passed away at 9:36 AM, Friday, January 7, 2004 at the Marion VA Medical Center. Sam was born on June 18, 1936 in DuQuoin to Louis & Lena (Calcaterra) Archione. He married Rosalie Rains on December 15, 1980 in Clarksville, TN. She survives of Herrin. Mr. Archione was a US Veteran having served in the Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Once stateside, he worked as a truck driver for Coca-Cola in Springfield until his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin as well as the Knights of Columbus, Elks and American Legion Post. SURVIVORS: Wife- Rosalie Archione- Herrin Son- Kim Archione- West Frankfort Son- Scott Archione- Wauskwa, WI Daughter- Leigh Pettus- Springfield Four Grandchildren: Mallory & Lenzie Archione- West Frankfort Zach & Whitney Pettus- Springfield Step-son- Charlie & Kim Thomas- Peoria Step-son- Tom & Jelaine Thomas- Peoria Step-daughter- Sherry & Walter Vance- Peoria Step-daughter- Susan Thomas- Peoria Step-daughter- Kathy Bowers- Peoria Twelve Step-Grandchildren: Hank Rosie Jane Jessica Domanic Brittney Ann Kenneth Vance Michael Vance Tammy Harris Joe Thomas Chris Nichole Andy Thomas Sister in law- Mildred Wade- Herrin He was preceded in death by his parents and step grand-daughter; Trisha Vance. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 14, 2005 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 PM, Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
